The Greatest Exercises for Improving Posture

Poor posture can affect your health in many different ways, and one of the most prominent ways it affects people is through increased pain. This article will discuss a series of exercises to improve posture. The main point of these exercises is to promote good posture so that your muscles lengthen, your spine aligns and you experience less pain.

Although many people turn to chiropractors to address their misalignment issues, the truth of the matter is that most misalignment comes from repetitive motions in one direction or another, and the best way to correct them is through other motions in different directions. Yoga and pilates address these issues arguably more effectively than sessions at the chiropractor.

One of the best posture exercises is the yoga series called sun salutations. This is mainly a posture exercise for the upper back.  While doing each of these movements, ensure that you hold them and breathe slowly through them. While breathing, pay close attention to how your body feels. First, placing your feet slightly apart and your hands in a prayer like position near your heart, stand up straight. Shoulders back make sure that your head and torso are inline and breathe. Raise your arms back so that your hands are pointing toward the wall behind you. Arch your back, open up your chest and continue to breathe. Slowly, bring your body forward, and moving it one vertebra at a time, reach toward your toes. Get as close to your toes as you can and hold the position. Then move your hands forward along the floor until your body is in an arch shape. Slowly bring your entire body to a supine position on the floor. Then, arch your head up so that you look like a cobra.

If you finish these exercises to improve posture and you still want to stretch, allow yourself time to do that. If you allowed these exercises to relax you and you paid attention to how you felt during them, you will find yourself correcting your posture throughout the day. Your body will instinctively want to return to a balanced state after you encouraged it to do so with these exercises.
